Matelasse – A Definition

Matelasse is derived from the French word "Matelasser" meaning ”to quilt”.

This is a jacquard woven fabric that creates a raised pattern with a quilted or sculpted effect.

The Matelasse' fabrics that we use are made in Italy. They are of a far superior quality to Matelasse from areas such as Portugal, China or India. The difference in quality of the Italian Matelasse, you will notice immediately.
